Platform migration

Dynamics GP is being phased out. Here's exactly where your data goes.

Moving from GP to Business Central is a real platform change: different structure, same financial rigor. We map every module before we move a single record.

FAQ

Questions about moving from GP

When does Microsoft stop supporting Dynamics GP?

Microsoft has announced that product support and updates for Dynamics GP end on December 31, 2029, and security patches end on April 30, 2031. Moving well before then avoids a rushed migration.

How long does a GP to Business Central migration take?

A typical migration reaches cutover in about nine weeks: module mapping, configuration and data migration, parallel testing, then cutover. Your exact timeline depends on data volume and the modules you use.

What happens to our historical data?

Historical data is migrated and reconciled against GP during weeks 3–6, so balances in Business Central match what you had in GP.

Will we lose our SmartList reports?

No. SmartList reporting is replaced by Power BI dashboards embedded in Business Central, which are easier to share and update.

Can we keep using GP while we migrate?

Yes. GP stays your system of record until cutover, and key processes run in both systems during parallel testing so you can confirm the results match before you switch.

We're on Dynamics NAV, not GP.

NAV upgrades follow a different path. See Upgrade from NAV, or Business Central implementation if you're moving from another system.
